National Careers and Apprenticeship Week
Last week Essa Academy celebrated National Careers week with a range of activities and experiences. The theme of Essa Academy careers week was 'Jobs of the Future' with assemblies and form time activities based around preparing for jobs that don't currently exist. Students were invited to take part in a competition asking them to create a job advert for a career of the future. The winners will be decided on the most imaginative job and the most creative presentation.
On Thursday all students within the academy were invited to our Careers Fair. We had college and further education providers as well as employers available for students to discuss their options and help to make decisions about their futures. At the end of the day parents were invited in to join in on the conversations and those who attended said that it was very informative and gave them lots to think about as well.
Throughout the week our careers champions from each faculty were on hand to discuss careers in their subjects and link the learning in lesson to how they would use this within a range of jobs. Thank you to the staff and prefects who made this possible.
This is the first time careers week has been celebrated in this way at Essa and this is just the start. Careers education is key for a successful future, so watch this space for all that is to come!
